My First Experience Making A Commercial

Name: Beckett Brand___   Creative Critical Reflection 1.                 How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? Our product challenges social conventions because it shows that even if you’re not playing sports and being athletic you can still find a use for Nike products. By showing people just doing everyday things like homework ad walking around we show how Nike products are useful for everyday activities. I also show how it relates to athletic and sporty people by showing shots of people playing sports in their Nike attire. It also represents social groups as it shows groups of people playing sports and the groups of people doing everyday things. It also shows how girls can do anything guys can by having a mix of men and women in our commercials.   2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? The commercial I made engages with the audience in many w

My Nike Commercial

This project was a very fun and exciting adventure. I learned many new things about filming an editing while doing this project. My favorite part of this project was probably filming and hanging out with my friends. We filmed outside which was a very fun because we got to run outside and play sports during class time. I also learned a lot of new things while completing this project. I learned how to do things like edit shots together. I also learned how to add music to the shots. The final thing I learned how to do that I didn't know how to do before was film different kinds of shots. Some of the shots I learned how to film were pans and tracking shots. Another shot I learned how to do was a zoom-in and a zoom-out which I used a lot of in the commercial.

Finishing The Commercial And The Editing

Image
We started off where we ended last time. Figuring out what to do with the music. Soon after we had collectively decided on a song I realized that the app we were using, iMovie, did not allow songs that were under copyright. This meant I had to find some of the prerecorded and free music available on the app. We decided on a few different songs that fit each shot. For all the sporty shots I used a song that was building up the beat and creating excitement. For my shot that was chill, I used a song that was chill and calmed everyone down. For the final song on the Nike logo, I decided to record the original song we wanted to use through the microphone option. Now that I had the song choices it was time to finish mashing up against each shot. I shortened many of the shots and zoomed in on spots like where the Nike logos were to make smooth transitions between the logos. On shots that didn't have zoom-ins on the Nike logos, I used some of their free transitions. I used a wipe and a swi

Starting To Edit

Image
I started by downloading an app that could edit all the clips together and add smooth transitions. The app I decided to use to edit is called iMovie and it is a very popular editing app. I started by importing all of the shots that we had into the app. From there I also grabbed the 'Just Do It' Nike logo and put that at the end of all the other shots. From there I watched a few videos on how to use the app. The videos showed me how to import music over the commercial and get rid of any current sound. It also showed me where the transitions were and how to do them. Now that I knew how to use transitions I could get started. I started by showing the shot where we graded an assignment and put a checkmark on it that looked like the Nike logo. I then zoomed in further on the checkmark than in the actual recording to make it bigger and more central in the shot. After that, I transitioned the big checkmark on the paper into the one on the soccer player's shirt. Then I played the

Helping Out Rashell And Filming Our Last Scenes

Today while filming we went outside again like during the first day. While outside we helped film for another group that only had one person so that could not film and act at the same time. While people from my group acted I helped with the camera and filmed it. The main shot we did was a shot of one of us running on the track reaching the end and then drinking from a water bottle. To create this shot we borrowed a block from the track and field team. Then one of us launched off of it and ran down the track for a few seconds. While they were running I was holding the camera chasing after them to show them running. Then they grabbed the water bottle and took a big drink from it. While they were drinking I zoomed in on the logo that the ad was for. The ad was for Zephyrhills and was supposed to show how athletic people only drink their products. We also filmed the final scene for our group. It was actually the first scene in the commercial but it was filmed last because it was the only
