Filming Day 3: Sofia's House

Image
Today was the last day of filming. It was also the longest. Sofia lives far from me. This meant the first challenge was getting there. Luckily, Sean was able to drive me there. Once I arrived I outlined the scenes my group needed to film. these scenes were any of the outdoor pranking scenes. The biggest issue with this was the sound design. After the first take, I realized the immense wind was louder than Sean and I talking. This was an easy fix. Sean and I just screamed when we talked. This easily drowned out the noise of the wind. The next issue was actually pranking the house. No one knew how to actually toilet paper a house. Because of this, my group spent around 20-30 minutes just testing ideas out. Eventually, I figured out a pretty cinematic way to make it look good and used that. This involved using one long piece to twist and wind all around the toilet-papered object. To do this I had to make a few cuts of me throwing the rolls and actually placing the toilet paper around. Af

Filming Day 2: Sean's House

Today was the second day of filming. I had to go to Sean's house to get these scenes. The longest and most challenging shot was the one my group decided to start with. This scene was long and complicated. I had to remember many lines for it. Another problematic part of it was the props. I had to set up a cup of water. This cup needed to be spilled. This meant my group needed to get the whole scene in as few tries as possible. The ideal number would be 1 try. Unfortunately, it took 3 tries. This meant Sean and I had to deal with some slightly wet floor, which was a hazard. This was not the only difficult shot to get. Another one was when I enter Sean's house. In this scene, Sean is supposed to hit me with the door. The only problem with this is that I didn't want to get a big bruise from the door. Because of this, I needed to find a solution. I came up with an idea. I tape something soft to the spot where my head would hit. Sean brought a sponge from his kitchen. I taped it

Filming Day 1: Beckett's House

Today my group decided to begin the process of filming. Today was my first day of filming as an A-level student. To start filming my group did all the scenes at my house. The majority of the scenes were at my house. This means it took a while to finish all the filming. The first scene I did was in my room. I shot a bird's eye view of me and Sean on my bed. To do this I had to find a way to attach the phone to the ceiling. As mentioned in the last blog I attached it to my ceiling lights. This gave my film an awesome angle that makes the film more unique. A couple of the scenes my group needed were of me and Sean on a phone call. In order to do this Sean and I had to be in separate places. Sean went into my mom's room and closed the door. I called him from my room. This helped make sure all the talking would be synced up. It also let my group avoid having to dub over any slightly off parts of the conversation. The last type of scene I needed was a couple of outdoor scenes. My gro

Creating the Setting

The other day I began filming my movie. I decided to film the first part at my house. This was just the first session out of 3 my group plans to do. In order to film at my home I had to do a few things to prepare. A handful of the scenes were in my room. Because of this, I had to move a lot of things around. I had to make room for the cameras so I had to remove a bunch of stuff so the camera couldn't be blocked. I also decided I wanted a bird's eye view shot. This was a very tricky shot to get as the camera person couldn't just stand high and hold the camera or else feet would be in it. To solve this I had to get very imaginative. I have lights in my room that are all connected by a metal pole. Luckily this pole bends, moves, and rotates around. This meant I could rest my phone on my lights. This got a really cool bird's eye view shot that wasn't blocked by any obstacles or feet. Another issue was I had to get a few scenes from the front of my house. The issue was t

Props And The Arts

Image
Before filming could begin, my group needed something very important. This item was props. Some props were bought at a store. Others were made at home. Some of the props I had to make were letters. I had to create these for a few scenes. They were used whenever the mysterious antagonist needed to let the characters know something. I had some old red envelopes at my home. I grabbed some pens and wrote some postage codes on them. After that, I grabbed some normal lined paper. With that, I wrote a note. I put that note in the envelope and plan on opening it while filming. Another prop I grabbed from my house was the Lego. My group needed these for the opening scene. In the scene, Sean smashes a bunch of Legos out of anger. I got them from my room as when I was little I was really into Lego so I had lots to use. The final props my group used were phones. I used my phone for any scene where I called Sean. There was only one prop I had to buy from the store. That was the toilet paper my gro

Wrong Doings

This is an embedded Microsoft Office presentation, powered by Office . Page 1: We start in Beckett’s house where Sean and Beckett are playing cards. After getting bored and angry Sean storms out where we follow him down the street. Beckett speed walks and catches up to him where they start talking about what to do to end their boredom.   Page 2: They both come to a stop and see this one house. They look at each other and both come to the conclusion that a great way to end their boredom is to prank the house in front of them. In order to prank it they walk out of the frame and come back with their supplies like toilet paper and more. Before pranking they have a short conversation on how they plan to prank it. After this conversation they begin throwing the toilet paper at the house.   Page 3: This page shows the vandalism in progress, as well as both protagonists receiving their “cursed” letters.   Page 4 : This page shows Beckett disregarding the letter he received from Sean, w
