Today was a  productive   day  for me  and  my group.   We as a group  first  decided  on a Christmas genre for our music video. After some research on these types of songs we decided not to  do this genre. We decided on not doing a Christmas  song because we thought it would be boring and Christmas is a little too far away to do it.   We looked in another direction. We started  looking at pop songs. We liked what we saw.  We saw a lot of jump cuts. As well as  creative  costumes  and makeup.  Another thing we saw  was  a lot of  close ups and zoom outs while researching the videos.  This  opens  a large catalog of things to do in our video.  Many different  types  of shots.  It was very centered around the main character.  It also involves a lot of upbeat activities such as parties.  We also have a backup plan . This is the second group project from this class so far which means it is time to find a new group. I am working with the same people as last time, excluding Kaya. Our group consists of me, Sean, and Julianna just like the group from the last project. We agreed that we worked together well last project and agreed to work together again this time. As a reminder I will reintroduce each of my groupmates. The first person is a good friend of mine named Sean who I have known since 6th grade. The other person in my group is Julianna and I met her last year in my first year of high school because we shared classes.  I knew everyone in the group before we started working together and helped bring the group together. My name is Beckett Brand and this is my introduction. I was born in Florida on February 14, 2006, otherwise known as Valentine's Day. I am 15 years old and am excited to turn 16 and be able to drive. Once I can drive I won't have to rely on my sister or parents to drive me anywhere and can leave places when I am ready to leave. My mom is Canadian and my dad is American. I also have an 18-year-old sister who was also born in Florida like me and will be heading to college soon. I am working towards my Canadian Citizenship so that I can officially be an American and Canadian citizen like my mom. I have lots of family up in Canada and try to visit them somewhat often. One thing I enjoy doing in my free time is small animations. I like making 2D and stop motion animations out of Lego and clay.   Name: Beckett Brand___   Creative Critical Reflection 1.                 How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? Our product challenges social conventions because it shows that even if you’re not playing sports and being athletic you can still find a use for Nike products. By showing people just doing everyday things like homework ad walking around we show how Nike products are useful for everyday activities. I also show how it relates to athletic and sporty people by showing shots of people playing sports in their Nike attire. It also represents social groups as it shows groups of people playing sports and the groups of people doing everyday things. This project was a very fun and exciting adventure. I learned many new things about filming an editing while doing this project. My favorite part of this project was probably filming and hanging out with my friends. We filmed outside which was a very fun because we got to run outside and play sports during class time. I also learned a lot of new things while completing this project. I learned how to do things like edit shots together. I also learned how to add music to the shots. The final thing I learned how to do that I didn't know how to do before was film different kinds of shots. Some of the shots I learned how to film were pans and tracking shots. Another shot I learned how to do was a zoom-in and a zoom-out which I used a lot of in the commercial.

We started off where we ended last time. Figuring out what to do with the music. Soon after we had collectively decided on a song I realized that the app we were using, iMovie, did not allow songs that were under copyright. This meant I had to find some of the prerecorded and free music available on the app. We decided on a few different songs that fit each shot. For all the sporty shots I used a song that was building up the beat and creating excitement. For my shot that was chill, I used a song that was chill and calmed everyone down. For the final song on the Nike logo, I decided to record the original song we wanted to use through the microphone option. Now that I had the song choices it was time to finish mashing up against each shot. I shortened many of the shots and zoomed in on spots like where the Nike logos were to make smooth transitions between the logos.  I started by downloading an app that could edit all the clips together and add smooth transitions. The app I decided to use to edit is called iMovie and it is a very popular editing app. I started by importing all of the shots that we had into the app. From there I also grabbed the 'Just Do It' Nike logo and put that at the end of all the other shots. From there I watched a few videos on how to use the app. The videos showed me how to import music over the commercial and get rid of any current sound. It also showed me where the transitions were and how to do them. Now that I knew how to use transitions I could get started. I started by showing the shot where we graded an assignment and put a checkmark on it that looked like the Nike logo. I then zoomed in further on the checkmark than in the actual recording to make it bigger and more central in the shot.
