Our Pitch Ideas
Our group did some brainstorming, and everyone came up with one pitch and its pros and cons. They go as follows:
- After a teen vandalized the side of an old rickety house, a letter arrives addressed to him. The letter tells him he must complete a series of missions and objectives to uncurse himself.
- After 5 years, 3 friends meet up to discuss the sudden disappearance of their 4th friend. Along the way, they discover clues leading to the truth behind their friend’s disappearance.
- 3 teenagers are walking around a laboratory on a school field trip testing things out when they get separated from the group. While looking around they find a mysterious box and go inside. After shutting the door, they are all teleported through time and must find their way back to the present.
The pros of pitch number 3 are that it gives everyone in our group of 3 a role. It is also an easy movie to include hard-to-use shots and angles as we can show the strangeness of the time machine through strange shots and angles. A con is that it might be hard to show a futuristic laboratory without the budget of creating a real laboratory. It might also be difficult to make things look like they're from the future or the past as getting proper props for it could be difficult. The pros of pitch 2 go as follows, this pitch allows all of us to have a part in the film, and it doesn’t require the use of a set or props that are too difficult to find, make, or come up with. It also leaves the storyline very broad, so it’ll be easy to make any last-minute changes if needed. The cons of this pitch are that we will most likely need the help of one or two other actors that aren’t in the group that are willing to help. Also, this pitch might make it difficult to use the most out of the parts of media, such as certain angles, shots, and editing factors. In pitch one, there are many pros. These consist of the suspense that would be built up from being cursed and uncursing themselves. But on the flip side, being more practical, it is not realistic to vandalize a house. But after some thought between us, we were able to make it practical by just doing it to one of our houses with some toilet paper. This pitch also allows us lots of room for creativity, which is something we would like to have. We chose pitch 1. This is because we were able to envision the beginning, middle, and end very clearly. This pitch also allows us to be flexible with what we want to do. So, we all came to the agreement that pitch 1 would work best for us.
